just another bookworm…

May 8, 2019

Have any of you had a reading stump? You know, that kind of time where you just don’t know what to read and can’t find anything. Well I’ve felt that way since I started this semester in a new college. I couldn’t find a good book to ease my mind from all the anxiety. Let’s face it! There’s NOTHING more satisfying than reading an awesome book with all kinds of drama while drinking coffee or enjoying the sun outside. This is why I want to show you guys some of my favorite books in case you don’t know what to read this summer because, lucky for us, summer is here! Two months of pure sun, golden sands, blue waters and most importantly books. That is, if you are somewhere with a nice beach near you. But for some, it’s a time to catch up on all the good books we haven’t had the time to read and shake the stress away. Now I don’t know about all of you, but I love nothing more than to have a few good novels on hand. Now let’s get to it!

1. Throne of Glass series– Sarah J Maas.

This book series is one of my all time favorites!

It’s about a young assassin, Celaena Sardothien, who has served in hard labor at the salt mines of Endovier for a year. One day Prince Dorian offers her a chance of freedom on one condition: act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Little does she know, she has to serve for four years and the competition is against ruthless men-thieves, warriors and assassins. Not to mention that some start ending up dead. With things getting interesting with Prince Dorian and her intense training with the captain of the guard Chaol Westfall, Celaena must find time to find out who the killer is. As she investigates she discovers a destiny greater than she imagined.

I absolutely loved this book. And the entire series. It is filled with lots of drama, action and romance. Also, it has quite the good amount of wit, sarcasm and sassy comebacks from our heroine and the other characters. Not to mention our beloved book boyfriends are to die for. The males in this book series are amazing and oh-so-scrumptious. I 100% recommend this book series. I cannot even begging to explain how much I enjoyed reading these books and seeing how all these characters grew and developed. You can see how the plot thickens at every step of Celaena’s journey.

2. Shatter Me series- Tahereh Mafi.

Oh my God… what can I even say. This book series was and will always be dear to my heart. I’ts first book is named Shatter Me and boy does it shatter. Some people may find it a bit cheesy but I feel like that’s sort of the magic about book series, right? You get to see how the authors thinking evolves and how the plot thickens from something possibly cliché to something earth shattering. Tahereh Mafi did this for me. Her writing in this series is so beautiful to me. I felt like every word was directed into my soul and even as the plot would bring me to love and hate the characters sometimes, her writing would leave me wanting to read more. To know more. So I will leave you with a brief synopsis of the first book and let you guys be the judge to this series.

I have a curse
I have a gift

I am a monster
I’m more than human

My touch is lethal
My touch is power

I am their weapon
I will fight back

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Now, my lovelies, I will leave you all to your reading. I hope this was of help to you if you haven’t found any books to read. Till the next post and have a wonderful time.

Love, Alondra.
