just another bookworm…

It’s been ten years since Sasha Keaton left her West Virginia hometown . . . since she escaped the twisted serial killer known as the Groom. Returning to help run her family inn means being whole again, except for one missing piece. The piece that falls into place when Sasha’s threatened—and FBI agent Cole Landis vows to protect her the way he couldn’t a decade ago.

First one woman disappears; then another, and all the while, disturbing calling cards are left for the sole survivor of the Groom’s reign of terror. Cole’s never forgiven himself for not being there when Sasha was taken, but he intends to make up for it now . . . because under the quirky sexiness Cole first fell for is a steely strength that only makes him love Sasha more.

But someone is watching. Waiting. And Sasha’s first mistake could be her last.

Usually I’m not one for reading suspense or thriller books. I’m more of a fantasy girl: faeries and mythical creature, or even aliens or Greek gods. *inserting unicorns here*

However, Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of the greatest hybrid authors I’ve come to find. She has a broad spectrum of series and stand alone novels, so I was sure to give it a read as soon as I bought it. The book in itself is actually pretty awesome and a super fast read. I loved the concept and the plot had me on the edge of my seat. I did found somethings a bit easily predictable about the serial killer. This doesn’t mean Armentrout doesn’t make you doubt yourself, she really does. At some points I almost became frustrated, in a good way, because I had a feeling that I was right but things wouldn’t add up until the very end. In my opinion, it’s what made me like the book more than not. It challenged me and that is something that, even if we do not like it, can be pretty great for us as readers.

Leaving aside the whole serial killer thing, there’s the swoon worthy romance.

Sasha’s and Colton’s relationship is pretty amazing. Considering their re-connection after a decade, I found it was pretty sweet but also hot and heavy. I love the transition of them reuniting and becoming something great. Needless to say they are both different and have to learn about each other which I loved. Some books are just not as realistic. I love the protectiveness, not because of the manly-man complex, but because Colton actually cares. He protects but also learns that Sasha is a new strong woman and respects her for that.

This book had an awesome amount of creepy and romance. I loved being immersed in this thriller novel and see how well it played out. As a huge fan of her novels, I have not ever been disappointed. The need to find out who the killer is, was tremendous. You are constantly analyzing every character to see if they are the one. The best part is that feeling of accomplishment when the tea finally spills and you get to know everything.

Now without further-ado, I recommend it to everyone who wants to start reading thriller/romance books. The novel is fast paced and full of drama and creepiness. Make sure to pick it up and let me know how you found it.

With LOVE, Alondra.

Book Review and Note:

July 25, 2019

Book review coming soon.

As many of you may know I live in the island of Puerto Rico and these past few days have been very hard on us. Due to all this our weekly book reviews have been delayed but soon I will publish them.

Either way I encourage you all to send your good vibes, prayers and support to us in our mission to fight corruption and establish a government where respect, humility and God’s love can reign.

Hundreds of Puertoricans have fought hard to achieve our goal to end corruption and disrespectful behavior. Nonetheless, I also call for everyone to maintain civility and respect towards others including our soon to be ex-governor. He has paid for his actions, finally. Let’s rise above.

My personal wish and prayer is to see a Puerto Rico united and focused on paving a road towards good things. I believe that with the help of God we can achieve this.

Without further-ado, effective in August 2nd Governor Ricardo Roselló, will step down from his position. This is the first time in history where a governor is resigning from his position! Let’s all reflect on our new journey and sleep knowing we made history On July 24th of 2019.

Love you all, and may God bless you. Att: Alondra.
